It’s here! After a campaign season that seemed like it might never end, the elections are finally upon us. If you haven’t already voted by early ballot, you need to get to the polls and vote YES on Prop 102 today.

This is our opportunity to secure the definition of marriage here in Arizona, so speak now, or forever hold your peace. Prop 102 simply says: “Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.”

Obviously, casting your YES vote on Prop 102 is the most important thing you can do to help pass Prop 102 today. After you’ve done that, though, there are still ways to help encourage others to vote YES. If you have a YES on 102 yard sign, take it to your polling place and set it up outside of the 75-foot limit. Spend some time at your polling place asking others to vote YES on 102. Call or send emails to your friends and family reminding them to vote YES on 102.

If you’re headed to the polls today, here are some important reminders:
•ID. You need to bring identification with you. If the address on your photo ID does not match your voter registration, you can bring two other forms of ID that show your name and address, such as utility bills, bank statements, or vehicle registration. For a complete list of acceptable identification, see the Secretary of State’s website.
•Polling Places. If you don’t know where your polling place is, call your county recorder’s office or visit their website. (Click for: Maricopa County, Pima County)
•Early Ballots. If you still have your early ballot, DO NOT MAIL IT. You can turn it in at any polling place. The polling places will have a specific drop box for early ballots, so you do not need to wait in line with those casting regular ballots.
•Be Prepared to Wait. If there’s a line at your polling place, don’t be discouraged and decide not to vote.
•Election Results. You can follow Prop 102 online tonight as results come in.

Why do we need Prop 102?
There’s a big difference between a law (also known as a statute) and a constitutional amendment. A law or statute can be easily changed by politicians or activist judges; a constitutional amendment cannot. Three courts – Massachusetts, California, and Connecticut – have overturned state marriage laws! This shows that marriage can be redefined by judges unless the people define marriage in the state constitution.

The Prop 102 vote could be very close - closer than most of us would imagine for a simple definition of marriage in our state constitution. Victory for Prop 102 on Tuesday requires all of us to turn out the YES vote. Now is the time to not grow weary but to double and triple our efforts to get out the YES on 102 vote. All hands on deck. We need you NOW more than ever to help pass Prop 102, and there are lots of easy ways to help!

EARLY BALLOTS. If you have an early ballot, please mail it in today, Thursday, October 30. Early ballots must be received in the county recorder's office by Tuesday or they will NOT be counted. Mail your early ballot TODAY to make sure it gets to the county recorder's office in time. If you DO NOT mail it in today, then you MUST physically turn in your early ballot at any polling place on Tuesday. If you have other questions about your early ballot, contact your county recorder's office.

TELL-A-FRIEND. We're one-third of the way to our goal of reaching 100,000 Arizonans through YesForMarriage.com's Tell-A-Friend email system - but we're running out of time. Since it looks like Election Day turnout is going to determine if Prop 102 passes, these e-mails are even more important.

Judicial activism reared its ugly head again today - this time in Connecticut, as the Connecticut Supreme Court struck down the state's marriage laws as "discriminatory." Here's what the YES on Prop 102/YESforMarriage.com campaign officially has to say about it:

CONNECTICUT RULING SHOWS WHY PASSAGE OF PROP 102 CRITICAL IN ARIZONA

The Connecticut Supreme Court today overturned that state’s law defining marriage only as the union of one man and one woman. Connecticut now joins Massachusetts and California on the list of states that have had judges by a one-vote margin redefine marriage for the entire state.

Prop 102 spokesman, Kelly Molique, said the CT decision shows the importance of passing the marriage amendment in Arizona this November. “The Connecticut ruling further illustrates why Arizona needs Proposition 102’s 20 simple and clear words added to the Arizona Constitution,” Molique said. “As the Connecticut ruling shows, it’s easy for activist judges and politicians to overturn existing marriage laws. The only way to prevent that from happening is to amend the constitution by passing Prop 102.”

“Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.”
